the ultimate fan book, London Carlton Books, 2018. ISBN 978-1-78739-210-6

When Mo Salah signed for Liverpool in 2016, there were those who doubted if he could succeed in the Premier League. After all his time at Chelsea had been disappointing. I hold my hand up as I expressed that view.

In two seasons Mo Salah has been magnificent. His goalscoring has surpassed all expectations. The book traces his career from his days in a small town in Egypt to his early professional career with the Arab Contractors, his transfer or to play in Switzerland

There is a lot more to him than being a footballer. He is known to make generous charity donations. When offered a house as a reward for helping Egypt qualify for the World Cup, he declined asking for a donation to be made to his home village instead. When playing in Italy he chose shirt number 74, to honor the 74 victims of the stadium disaster in Egypt.

As a devout Muslim he raises his hands to the heavens and knees to pray – as his goal celebration.

The book includes some interesting statistics of his time at Liverpool including scoring against 17 of the 19 other Premier League clubs in his first season.

As the book points out paying £37 Million for someone who had failed in his previous time in the Premier League seemed a gamble but it is a gamble which has paid off handsomely.

The book is a nice celebration of Sellers career but it is very much a book about him with very little of his own words.
